#BROWGOALS- Q&A with an Anastasia brow expert!

Hi ladies! Struggling to get the perfect brows? I’m so excited to introduce you to my beautiful friend, Erin, one of the brow artists from Anastasia. She is serious #eyebrowgoals and has some tips and tricks to get you there too!

Erin has been in the beauty industry for 8 years, is a licensed esthetician, and has worked for Anastasia for 8 years!

Let’s jump right in!

Consulting the Brow Expert

Lauren: Hi Erin! Thank you SO much for the interview. You seriously have THE BEST eyebrows and I can’t wait to share your secrets with my readers!

The Secret to Waxing and Maintaining Brows

Lauren: Alright, let’s talk about waxing & maintenance. What prep work should your clients do before an appointment? Anything they should avoid?

Erin: Stop touching your brows!! That is the hardest part (trust me, I know) but that is one of the worst things you can do for your brows. Especially if you are trying to grow them out.

Avoid using retinol and Retin-A in your skincare and do not do a chemical peel before a waxing appointment. Accutane and other skin antibiotics can make your skin extremely sensitive, so be sure to tell your esthetician what you are taking. I also offer tweezing if my clients are on any of these treatments.

Lauren: I definitely learned this the hard way. In high school, I was on Retin-A and got my brows & lip waxed on the last day of spring break. I ripped off my entire upper lip and had to go to school with a scab mustache… I still have nightmares about it.

When it comes to hair removal, do you think waxing hurts? What about tweezing?

Erin: I use an ultra-sensitive pearl wax, which is gentle enough for even my most sensitive clients. Everything is relative, and it’s only a 15-minute appointment. 🙂

Tranform Over-Tweezed Brows

Lauren: How can someone repair over-tweezed brows? Is there any way to make the hair grow thicker? Or just come back in general?

Erin: There many boosting serums on the market to help grow in over-tweezed and waxed brows. I love the Rodan and Fields Lash and Brow Boosting Serum- It can be used on lashes and brows to make them healthy and full.

Lauren: I’ve never tried the Rodan and Fields brand but I have used Latisse, GrandeLash, and RapidLash and they totally helped fill in my holes!

Major Keys To Perfect Eyebrows

Lauren: You worked for Anastasia for years, what were your major takeaways?

Erin: I learned so much from Anastasia. I still use the Anastasia brow method to find the perfect brow shape for someone based on their bone structure by filling in the brows before waxing or tweezing. This allows me to see exactly how the brows are going to look after the appointment and allows us to see which areas we need to grow in. I also learned many different techniques to fill in the brows with a variety of products.

Lauren: That is such a good idea to fill in the brows before you wax! That way your client can get an idea of the finished product before you start (and make sure they like it).

How often should someone wax?

Erin: I typically recommend between 4-5 weeks. Some clients prefer to see me every 2, and some stretch that out to 6. I would not recommend going past 6 weeks as you will lose the shape we have created with your brows being fully grown in.

Must-Have Eyebrow Products

Lauren: What are your must-have brow products?

Erin: Clear brow gel and brow wiz. Brow wiz is a slim detailing pencil to fill in the brows and clear brow gel can be used on its own to set the brows and make them look fuller and groomed.

Lauren: How do you pick a brow filler shade?

Erin:  When picking a brow shade, you always want to match the brow shade 1-2 shades lighter than the hair that is on the head or the brow color. Don’t get me wrong, I love me a full brow, but dark brown is not a universal brow shade. If the brows are too harsh, it can make someone look aged and distracts from other beautiful facial features.

Lauren: Any good drug store dupes?

Erin: I always find myself impressed with many drugstore makeup items. However, when it comes to brows, I have found that Anastasia Beverly Hills products are the best. Not only are they the perfect match a clients hair color (not too red, not too ashy), the texture of the products lays perfectly under the hair.

Do any of you have eyebrow tips? How do you maintain your brows? LMK!

Love Lauren
