10 Ways to Reduce Anxiety and Stress

If you tend to run a little more anxious & stressed (like me), you’re going love this post. In it, I share my tried and true ways that I reduce overthinking and calm myself down. Below are my top 10 ways I reduce anxiety and stress.

Reduce stress and anxiety

How to reduce anxiety and stress:

Ablbizia Supreme

My dr. calls THIS nature’s Xanax and I have to agree. I take 2 capsules morning and night and since I’ve been taking it I feel much more calm and at peace. Albizia is a beautiful tree native to China, Korea, and Japan whose flowers and bark have long been valued as an exceptional medicine that was reputed to bring joy to the heart. It is known to release suppressed emotion and calm the heart and mind.

Ashwagandha

Ashwagandha is an adaptogen known to reduce stress and anxiety. I take 2 capsules at night and within 30 minutes I feel calm and ready to go to sleep. I fall asleep easily and stay asleep most nights. It’s also known to reduce blood sugar levels and inflammation. *You don’t have to take Albizia or Ashwagandha every day- if you only occasionally struggle with anxiety they’re good to have on hand to take as needed.

Magnesium spray

If you have a hard time falling asleep spray THIS on the soles of your feet right before bed- it will help! This is one of the best ways to get magnesium- it’s delivered directly through a cellular level into the skin. It’s considered to be one of the best natural remedies for sore muscles, leg cramps, headaches, migraines & various aches.

Baths with Magnesium Salts or Detox Clay

Whenever I take a bath with Magnesium or Detox Clay I have the best sleep ever. They really reduce my stress and anxiety. I try to soak for 20 minutes in the evening. It calms me down almost immediately.

A magnesium bath is known to ease pain and relieve inflammation, making it beneficial in the treatment of sore muscles, asthma, and migraine headaches. In addition, it has been known to heal cuts and reduce soreness. Magnesium chloride is like Epsom salt but better- It absorbs faster and more effectively with calming effects.

Detox Clay Soaks have been used for thousands of years by cultures throughout the world. The Magnetic Clay Bath helps to detoxify heavy metals, environmental pollutants, and chemical burdens from the body. This bath will make you feel *so* calm.

Unfollow or Mute

If anyone you follow makes you feel stressed, anxious, jealous, or have any feelings other than joy, unfollow them!! There is no need for you to see any content you don’t love on your feed. Sometimes a social media break is necessary, especially if you’re feeling extra emotional. But if you find that certain people trigger you consistently it’s time to hit that unfollow button. If they are someone you know in real life or don’t feel comfortable unfollowing mute them! You can easily hide their content from your feed without them ever knowing. You’d be surprised how quickly your enjoyment of social media will return.

Call A Loved One

I can be having the worst day and one of my loved ones will call me and completely reset my brain. It always surprises me! It can be hard to pick up the phone and tell someone that you’re struggling but that’s what friends are for. I believe today’s society is too far removed from community and our mind and body needs it.

Touch Grass

The term touch grass always makes me laugh. No, I don’t mean smoke weed… just go outside and touch the ground with your bare feet or put your hand on a tree. It’s so simple but so beneficial. Our bodies aren’t meant to sit inside all day. Research shows that grounding has miraculous results with reducing inflammation and pain, improving sleep, improving trauma response and wound healing, improving blood flow, and giving you an overall sense of calm.

I also try to get sunlight on my face first thing in the morning before I look at my phone or email.

Get out of the house

Sometimes something as simple as leaving your house can completely reset your anxiety or stress. Go on a walk, listen to an audiobook, go for a drive, grab some food. When you’re struggling with anxiety or stressed with your to-do list it seems frivolous to take a break but it is so beneficial.

Cut Out Caffeine

Ok, hear me out… I know it sounds insane to cut out caffeine but I promise you it will make you feel so much less anxious. Steve and I cut it out one year ago and now when we have it we feel anxious and can’t sleep. We’ll go out to eat and forget to order decaf and we can both tell almost immediately how it affects our bodies. Since we’ve cut out caffeine we wake up easier, have more energy, and we don’t need that afternoon pick me up any more. Life is just better without it. You’ll likely experience some bad withdrawal symptoms so definitely wean yourself off of it. I’m talking headaches (like the worst headache you’ll ever have), brain fog, and even anger. But after you get off of it you’ll feel so much better!

Meditate or Manifest

I’m an overthinker and a planner so I prefer manifesting over meditating but both are great! When my mind is racing I have a hard time meditating but I always can manifest. I have a list of the things I’d like to manifest in my life in the notes section of my phone. I’ll read it to myself out loud or I’ll listen to a manifestation on YouTube. They always help remind me to calm down and have faith.

Meditation is one of those things I have to do first thing in the morning or it won’t work for me because I get distracted. I like to listen to guided meditation that prevents my mind from wandering. Or I’ll set my timer for 5 minutes and practice my breathing. Breathe in for 4, hold for 4, out for 4. Counting those numbers prevents my mind from wandering and it always calms me down.

I hope you found my tips on how to reduce stress and anxiety helpful! Of course, there are many other ways to do this too like journaling, working out, drinking chamomile tea, and watching your favorite movie/ show. Whatever you choose to do just know THIS TOO SHALL PASS. If you find yourself struggling daily I suggest the supplements at the beginning of the post take them for a few weeks and see how you feel- I bet they’ll help you a lot.
